There are Round Tables in almost every town in the UK and is recognised as a worldwide organisation. Milford Haven Round Table prides itself on our annual Carnival event as well as our newly resurrected fireworks display in November.
Milford Haven Round Table are proud to have just celebrated its 50th Charter. We were founded in 1960, holding it's first charity event, a Garden Fete in the same year. In 1962, we organised the town's first Carnival and raised enough money to purchase a caravan in Broad Haven. This was an unusual purchase but it provided a welcome holiday opportunity for our town's neediest families over the subsequent years.
In order to introduce larger activities for the people of Milford Haven, we require more members and are currently seeking prospective new recruits who would enjoy the fun of supporting our community. Our current annual events list includes - Helping Pembrokeshire County Council with their Fish Week celebrations (last Saturday of June), Organising the Milford Haven Carnival (1st Saturday in July), the Firework spectacular (early November), Santa at the Christmas Lights (early December) and Santa's Sleigh Ride (mid December.) We also organise/attend one-off charity events when an opportunity arises.
Our meetings take place on the first Monday and third Friday of most months (full list of meetings and dates in the Table Calendar section of this web site.) The Monday meeting is usually a social gathering based around a dinner at a local restaurant. At the Friday meeting, we meet in the upstairs room of the Starboard Hotel to discuss fundraising and administrative issues before retiring for a pint.
Our members represent many aspects of professional life, including salesmen, refinery workers, factory workers, job seekers, builders, emergency service staff, administrators and bankers. We all have one thing in common, a desire to combine having fun with benefitting Milford Haven. This strong fellowship provides a great reward to being in the Round Table.
Round Table is a participation organisation and the old saying applies strongly "You get out what you put in". You can develop yourself whilst having fun along the way.
